Vehicle Suppression System
Why do I need a Vehicle Fire Suppression System?
Most fires in vehicles occur at the engine compartment, which is an enclosed space with high operating temperatures and multiple running systems. When a fire starts and is noticed by the driver, we would expect the driver to use a fire extinguisher (traditionally placed within the vehicle) to fight and extinguish the fire.
However, the bonnet of the vehicle prevents the extinguisher from being effective as it prevents the extinguishing agent from reaching the fire, thus making it very difficult for the layperson to fight vehicular fires.
Vehicle fire suppression systems were thus built with the intent of automatically detecting and extinguishing any fire hazards, without any need for human intervention and at the eliminating the fire at the earliest juncture. Some systems further ensure that reignition does not occur by forming a protective layer around the surface. These systems thus ensure minimal risks to the driver and passengers, along with minimal damage to the vehicle itself.
What sort of vehicles would typically need these systems?
Buses & Trucks / On-Road Vehicles

Buses and trucks often have to travel for long distances carrying heavy cargo, which places stress on the engine of these vehicles, thus increasing the risks of fires. Furthermore, with stricter regulations on noise and emission levels which result in higher operational temperatures, the risk of fire hazards are higher for these vehicles.
One additional reason for buses to install these suppression systems is because the engine compartment is located at the rear of the vehicle, which makes it difficult for the driver to be aware when a fire occurs.
Motor Boats & Yachts

In the event that a fire occurs in the open sea, there would be minimal help available for Motors Boats & Yachts. The engine room of these boats, in particular, represent a major source of risk as fires that start here are often not discovered for some time, by which point the fire may have spread further and would be difficult to put out.
Our Solution: Protecfire’s Automatic Fire Suppression System
Protecfire’s fire suppression system is a single line depressurized system which makes it easy and safe to install on vehicles, and is made up of a few key components. Namely, Extinguishing Agent Container, Detection Elements, Release Nozzles, Optional Manual Activation System and Extinguishing Pipelines.
Operating Principle: The system activates once a pre-determined activation temperature is reached at the area that’s being protected. Upon activation, the system becomes pressurized through the introduction of N2 gas, which allows for the extinguishing agent to be released via the nozzles. Our patented agent would form a protective layer around the area, thus preventing reignition.
